Three Up and Three Down 4/26/21

This was another fun week to be Pirates fan. They are currently sitting at .500 after another winning week of baseball. Lets take a look at three things that went well and three that did not.

Up

Adam Frazier continues to hit. Over the last week, Frazier hit .300 bringing his season average to .310. His BABIP is .353 on the year. He is putting balls in play and they are finding holes.

Like Frazier, Bryan Reynolds is hitting well. Over the last 7 games, Reynolds hit .318 to bring his season average to .304. His BABIP is .379. Reynolds continues to show that 2020 was a fluke and 2019 was closer to what he can do on the field.

Richard Rodriguez picked up two saves over the last week in 3 relief appearances. He has yet to give up a run and has only allowed one hit on the year. Rodriguez has been one of the better relievers in baseball and should start to stir up some potential trade interest from other teams.

Down

Phillip Evans has rough week. After a hot start, Evans has cooled off. Over the last 7 games, he had a .148 average going 4-27 with 11 Ks.

Todd Frazier went hitless in his first week with the Pirates. He went 0-14 with 4 Ks. With the DH not being an option this week, Frazier may see some time in the field to get some at bats.

Jacob Stallings is scuffling at the plate. Over the last 7 days, he hit .095 going 2 for 21 with 5 Ks. Stallings isn’t expected to do a whole lot at the plate, but he needs to do more than this.
